THE LIFE OF CYNTHIA MARIA WILLIAMS

Sunrise: May 27th, 1962, Sunset: September 11th, 2024, (Her Mother’s Birthday)

Cynthia Maria Williams-Pool, affectionately known as “Black Beauty” to close family, gained her wings at the age of 62 on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Lorain Mercy Health Hospital where she was surrounded by an abundance of love, family & friends. Cynthia was born in Lorain, Ohio where she was a lifelong resident, to the late Flossie and Leonard Whitfield.

Cynthia attended Elyria High School, where she showcased her vocal talents in the Acapella Choir. Her passion for helping others led her to a rewarding career as a State Tested Nursing Assistant at Autumn Aegis (Sprenger’s) Nursing Home located in Lorain, where she dedicated over 30 years of service, reflecting her commitment and deep compassionate and nurturing spirit.

Cynthia was known for her perfect blend of sarcasm and kindness, always speaking her mind in a loving, non-nonsense approach that was uniquely her own and her demanding but loving nature.

Outside of her professional life, Cynthia had a vibrant yet laid back, demeanor. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and cooking. One could always depend on her for a good home cooked meal, her specialty being her famous baked spaghetti. She cherished the simplest things in life like spending time with close family and friends with a fierce and strong spirit that was unmatched. Her life was filled with joy brought by her variety of friends and loved ones. She had a soft spot for animals growing up, often bringing stray dogs’ home as a child.

She leaves behind her significant other of over 20 years, Thomas Spikes of Lorain and her only son, Martise (Brittany) Williams of Florida. Cynthia's memory will also be cherished by her brothers Darius (Lettie Mae) Williams of Arkansas, Owen (Nedda) Williams, Garland “Perry” (Wilma) Williams, Michael Williams all of Lorain, and Jarray (Caroline) Williams of Elyria. Her sisters Michelle Lovett, Stephanie (Oscar David) Blair of Lorain, Regina Broadnax of Detroit, Lenora Williams and Glenda Parks of Elyria. Her precious granddaughter, Kyleigh of Florida, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues will miss her dearly.

Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents, Flossie and Leonard Whitfield, her sisters, Linda Hawthorne and Nette Williams, and brothers, Dwight, Terry, James, and Leo Williams.

Cynthia's life will be celebrated at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 614 West River Rd Elyria, OH 44035. A viewing will be held on Friday September 20th, 2024, from 10 am to 11 am, followed by the funeral service immediately after.
