Curtis Henderson Sr., 87 transitioned to his
heavenly home on Saturday July 23, 2022 with
his son, Mitchell Henderson and daughter,
Linda Woolbright by his side.
He was born July
14, 1935 in Shelby, Mississippi and relocated
to Clarksdale, Mississippi and then relocated
to Elyria, Ohio with his family. He is the son of
Henry Henderson and Hattie Henderson
(Metcalf).
Curtis was a General Motors employee for 40
years before retiring. He had a love of musical
instruments, working on automobiles, riding
motorcycles, and his main love of singing in
the Male Chorus. He was a longtime member
of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Elyria. He loved to eat anything that came out
of the ground
!He is survived by and leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Linda
(Robert) Woolbright of Elyria, OH; son, Curtis Mitchell (Twania) Henderson
Jr of Lorain, OH; step-daughter, Doris Harris of Elyria, OH; daughter,
Leanna (Robert) Bossman of Cleveland, OH; sister, Deetta Henderson of
Oberlin, OH; sister-in-law, Bertha Henderson of Elyria, OH; 12
grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; many
nieces and nephews; and his best friend, William Smith.
He is preceded in death by parents, Henry and Hattie Henderson; his wife,
Vera V. Henderson (Harris); his sisters: Daisy Lee Brown, Mildred Lampkin
and Frankie Mae Brown; his brothers: James Metcalf; Wallace Henderson;
Harold H.D. Henderson, and Walter Henderson; and son, Rino Hanshaw.
The homegoing celebration will be held on Monday August 8, 2022 at
Mount Zion Baptist Church located at 614 W River N, Elyria OH 44035. The
viewing will be 10:00 am to 11:30am followed by funeral service with Pastor
Calvin Currie presiding.
