Curtis Robert George

Curtis Robert George 85 born March 18th, 1937, passed away on June 4th, 2022, in his Assisted Living home, following a long illness, with his loving wife Sarah by his side. He was born in-Stokes County, North Carolina. He moved to New York then later relocated to Elyria, Ohio where he lived for over 50 years.

Curtis was employed by Sears of Elyria, Ohio as a lineman’s technician for 24yrs. He earned his certificate in training, and then he received his certificate from local 32B building service. Later, he worked for Wesleyan Village of Elyria, as a transporter, taking patients to their doctors’ appointment.

Mr. George better known as "Robert" or "Pappa Smurf" who was also known in Elyria for his Dune Buggy, that he built and drove every year in the Memorial Day parade with his friends.  He enjoyed fixing on any car that rolled in his driveway. He also enjoyed fishing, karate and playing his guitar. He was an advocate for Cancer Awareness and walked yearly with his wife.

He is survived by his Devoted loving wife Sarah George, his Daughters Deborah George of Hampton, VA, Erica Lemieux of Elyria, OH, Favorite nephews Stuart T George of Highpoint North Carolina, Billy Lindsay of L.A California, Johnny Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives, friends, and family.

He was preceded in Death by his father Edgar George, mother Susie France George, and brothers: James “Dowil” Paul, Garfield and Walter George:  and sister’s; Jessie Ann George Enoch, Gladys G. Lindsay, Louise G. Clark.

There will be a Graveside Service held Monday June 13, 2022, at 10:00am until 11:00am at Brookdale Cemetery 41600 Oberlin Elyria Rd, Elyria, Ohio 44035 followed by words of comfort by Pastor Frank Gilchrist, of New Hope B.C. Lorain, Ohio.
