Charlie Tower Obituary

Charlie Wendell Tower, 58 of Lorain, Ohio passed away on Thursday November 4, 2021, following complications from a stroke he suffered in July 2021. 

Charlie was born on March 25, 1963, in Lorain, Ohio and was third of ten children born to Rev. Peter and Clara Tower. He was a graduate of Clearview High School, while at Clearview High School Charlie played on the football team and he played the saxophone while attending elementary school at Vincent. Charlie graduated from Lorain County Community College, Elyria Oh with an Associate's Degree, and he also attended Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama majoring in mathematics, physics, and mechanical engineering. 

Charlie was a founding member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Lorain, Ohio and was very instrumental in helping his father (the church pastor) build their new church located at 3900 Clifton Avenue Lorain Ohio, Charlie also served in many capacities at church, including church treasurer, church trustee, a member of the church usher board, a member of the youth ministry and a member of the church choir. 

Charlie’s past work experience includes working as a correctional officer for the state of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections in Grafton, Ohio, working at Lorain County Garage in Elyria, Ohio and working for Huntington Bank in Columbus, Ohio. Charlie’s passion and hobbies were building things and he could often be found helping his neighbors by performing minor household maintenance and repair work for them, doing auto mechanic work for them, and repairing small engines such as lawn mowers, Charlie liked to cook, bar-be-que and fillet fish. While in high school Charlie built a wooden paper towel holder in his wood shop class for his mother, which she still uses to this day. 

Charlie leaves to cherish his memory, his parents Bishop Dr. Peter and Clara Tower of Lorain, siblings Dr. Jessie Mae Tower, Louvert (Darryl, Sr.) Hartsoe, Minister Tabatha Tower, Sheila Tower, Vanessa Tower, Dr. Carol (Leon) Jackson, Minister Yolanda Charlene Tower, R.N. and Michael Tower. Nieces & Nephews, Yolanda Hartsoe, Marcellus (Samantha) Harris, SSG Peter Duane ( Danielle) Tucker, Darryl Roger Hartsoe Jr., Jessica Shanelle Tower, and Pharoah Julian Harris, Great- Nieces Brooklyn Tower, Hazel Harris, Estella Hartsoe and Esperanza Pugh, the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Family, and host of aunts, uncles and cousins 

Charlie was preceded in death by his sister SSG Roslin Kate Tower Richardson (2005) maternal grandparents Willie James and Ammie (Bell) Pritchett, paternal grandparents Peter George Tower Sr., Willie James and Luvert (Todd) Hayes, maternal great-grandparents Henry and Lillie Bell and paternal great-grandparent Walter and Bankie (Todd) Edwards. 

Homegoing Services will be held on Monday November 15, 2021 at 11:00am at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church 3900 Clifton Avenue Lorain, Ohio 44055. Visting hours 10:00am to 11:00am Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery Lorain, Ohio.
