Cassandra Horton, affectionately known as Sandy, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio, following a long illness. She transitioned peacefully while surrounded by family, maintaining her signature upbeat and positive spirit.
Born March 31, 1963, in Ripley, Tennessee, Sandy lived a life defined by truth, integrity, and love. She was passionate about fashion, cooking, writing, hospitality, and all forms of creative expression. A lover of music and dancing, Sandy was often the first to the dance floor and found joy in making sure everyone around her was having a good time.
She was a proud member of the Elyria High School Pioneer Marching Band, where she played the clarinet and valued the discipline and teachings of her band director, Mr. Murray.
Sandy moved through life with boldness and purpose, guided by a deep and personal relationship with God. Known for her wisdom, humor, and unmistakable sense of style, she lived by a simple philosophy: not later—NOW. She loved fiercely, lived fully, and inspired others to do the same.
Sandy was preceded in death by her youngest son, Jeremiah James McCullough.
She is survived by her children, Jonathan (Sonya) Perkins and Sarah Perkins; parents, James Horton, Sr. and Mary Harding; siblings, Craig (Emma) Gingery, Rhonda (Eric) Moore (née Horton), James (Carolyn) Horton Jr., Vicki Horton, and Andrea Horton; along with many loving extended family members and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Second Baptist Church, 427 Chapman Lane, Elyria, Ohio. Visitation 9:00 a.m., service 10:00 a.m., and repass follows interment.
