Carmela Laureen Isom

Carmela Laureen Isom, lovingly known as Poochie, passed away suddenly on June 30th, 2026, at the age of 61.

Born with a spirit that could fill any room, she lived her life boldly, truthfully, and with love that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her children, Stephen Isom and Tea Isom; her mother Mamie Dupakoski (husband Ed), her sisters Shelley Isom and Tomesha Vaughn (husband Joe), and her grandchildren Stephen Isom Jr., Kameron Isom, Marcel Isom, Edward Brown Jr., and Prince Lucky.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Isom, brother Joseph Isom, and grandson Marcus Isom.

Poochie was known for telling the truth- plain, direct and without hesitation. She was loud, unpredictable, and overflowing with love. She cared deeply for others, often putting their needs before her own.

In recent years Poochie found a new family at Grace Community Church in Lorain. Wherever Poochie went laughter followed, and love was never far behind.

Her presence was a gift, her honesty a compass, and her joy a light. She will be profoundly missed and forever cherished.

Visitation will be held on Friday July 10, 2026, at 10am with a Celebration of Life to begin at 11am located at Carter Funeral Home 127 W Bridge St Elyria, OH.  The Rev. Duane D. Anderson will be officiating.

Burial will be at New Russia Township Cemetery 12528 Oberlin Rd, Oberlin, OH 44074.
