Blossie Mae (Clark) Wright Obituary

Blossie Mae (Clark) Wright 84, of Columbus/Elyria passed away on March 6, 2021 at Riverside Hospital, Columbus, OH after a short illness. She was born September 7, 1937 in Ripley, TN. She was the 7th of 12 children born to Alvin and Isabell Clark. She graduated from Lauderdale High School Ripley. Blossie moved to Elyria, in January 1960. She raised her children as she worked and began her career at NASA Research Center on January 21, 1969. Blossie retired in December 2019 after 50 years of service. She moved to Columbus in December 2019.

Blossie was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church Elyria for over 60 years and once she moved to Columbus she became a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Blossie spent 30 years as the Outreach Director singing songs of praises throughout the Lorain County Area and beyond.

She leaves to cherish her memory. Brother, Dalton Clark, Detroit, MI and Sister Queen Jones, Brownville, TN; Her children, Charles Barbee, Columbia, SC, Don Barbee, Elyria OH, Gail (Timothy) Whalen, Columbus, OH, Gloria (Philippe) Motley, Columbus, OH; Christopher (Cheryl) Barbee, Durham, NC and Quinn (Elizabeth) Barbee, Elyria, OH; Step daughters Geraldine (Joe) Todd, Kalamazoo, MI and Joan (Calvin) Simmons, Warrick, Bermuda. She was the grandmother of 30 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and four great-great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius Wright; her parents, three brothers and five sisters, Sons Marlin and Ricky and her granddaughter, Courtney.

Family and friends will be received (walk through) from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.; Friday, March 19th at Second Baptist Church, 427 Chapman Lane, Elyria, OH 44035. Funeral Services will follow immediately for family only. Rev. Christopher Barbee of Durham NC will officiate. Burial will at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Please Social Distance and wear a Mask.
