Bettye Bryant Obituary

Bettye Jeanne (Turner) Bryant, 87 was called to rest on August 4, 2022, at the New Life Hospice Home, Lorain, Ohio. She was born on August 31, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of Wilson Turner and Helen King and was raised by her maternal grandparents Samuel and Cora King.

Bettye graduated from Oberlin High School where she excelled in academics and athletics. She also attended Oberlin Business School, Lorain Community College, and Oberlin College.

Bettye was married to Wallace Bryant for 49 years, and from this union they had six children.

Bettye spent her formative years at Rust United Methodist Church, Oberlin, Ohio and is a current member of House of Praise International Church, Lorain, Ohio.

Bettye was an avid reader and conversationalist. She passionately loved her family and friends and loved the Lord the best! The evidence of her faith was exemplified in the way she lived her life. She was not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and if you knew her, you knew that.

Bettye was employed for many years and retired from Fisher Body, Elyria, Ohio. After retirement she continued to work at Green Acres Youth Home, Oberlin, Ohio, and Lorain County Office of Aging, Elyria, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by Helen King and Wilson Turner (parents), Elsworth Smith (brother), Raymond Smith (brother), Irma Randle (sister), Wallace Bryant (husband), Larry Bryant (son).

Those remaining to cherish her memory include: Wallace Peace (Kim) of Sioux Falls, SD; Jon Bryant, of Wildwood, Fl; Cheryl Wilmer (Roger) of Frederick, MD; Deborah Bates (Caesar) Lorain OH; Rhonda Watkins of Cleveland OH; and special son John Thompson of Cleveland, OH.; 24 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 4 great- great grandchildren, and an enormous number of nephews, nieces, cousins, spiritually adopted children, and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022, with visitation from 6-7 pm and service to begin at 7 pm at House of Praise International Church located at 4321 Elyria Ave. Lorain, Ohio 44055; Pastor Gilbert Silva, Officiant / Eulogist.
