Obituary
Bernice Trammell-Woods (AKA Bonnie) was born on September 10th, 1952, in Chambers County, Alabama, to Mr. Adolphus and Mrs. Mae Bell Trammell (nee Turner).
Bernice attended RCTS High School in Roanoke, Alabama and moved to Elyria, Ohio, in 1973, where she obtained her GED. Bernice worked in various hotels in the city of Elyria for over 30 years as a night auditor and housekeeper. She loved cooking, dancing, spending time with family, and she enjoyed a wide genre of music.
She leaves behind one daughter, Debra Trammell-Sims, of Chicago, Illinois, three grandchildren: Stephanie Sims of Cleveland, Ohio, Niya Trammell of Elyria, Ohio, and Deshawn Simms of Chicago, Illinois, and six great grandchildren: Ny’Eda, Jennivecia, Angelina of Elyria, Ohio, and John, Jada, and David of Cleveland, Ohio. Bernice has two siblings: sister, Dora Hildreth (nee Trammell) of Elyria, Ohio, and brother The Reverend William H. Trammell of Roanoke, Alabama, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
On May 12th, 2025, she transitioned into her life in Elyria, Ohio with her sister Dora Hildreth by her side who was her beloved caretaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents of Roanoke, Alabama: Mr. Adolphus and Mrs. Mae Bell Trammell (nee Turner), her beloved nephew Leonard (Lenny) Furnell Hildreth of Elyria, Ohio, her brothers: Adolphus (AKA Pete), Lawson, Odell, Leonard, and Calvin, one sister Lena Mae Trammell all from Alabama.
Friends may call on Saturday May 17th, 2025, from 11:00am-12:00pm @ Carter funeral Home located at 127 W. Bridge St in Elyria, Ohio. The celebration of Life Service will be held from 12:00pm to 1:00pm immediately after the viewing.
