The Obituary of Deaconess Bernice Cofield
Bernice (nee-Ball) Cofield, a cherished Mother, wife, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 82 in North Ridgeville, Ohio on March 4, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Wiley Ball and Ethel (nee-Parker) Ball. She leaves behind the love of her life husband, Ernest Cofield, Sr. and children; Theresa Cofield-Forrest, Lisa (Dean) Martin, Danita (Lonnie) Asby, Ernest (Veronica) Cofield, Mark (Donna) Ball and bonus children; Pastor Ricky Cofield, Gwen Anderson, Carol Diana Carlise and a host of grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews, and her last surviving sibling, Susan Ball.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; Wiley Ball and Ethel (nee-Parker) Ball and son, Angelo Louie Ball, sisters; Odessa Lee, Ethel Mae Ball, Evelyn Johnson, brothers; Charles Ball, Floyd Ball, Robert Ball, Wiley Ball Jr., and Thomas Ball.
As we reflect on Bernice’s life, we will take comfort in knowing that her legacy will forever live on in the hearts and minds of the family and friends who all loved her. She was the heart of the family who inspired love and kindness. She was known for her generosity and compassion and her love for her Mount Zion family as well.
Visitation will be held on Thursday March 13th at 10am with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11am located at Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church 614 W. River Rd. N Elyria, OH 44035.
Burial will be held at Brookdale Cemetery 41600 Oberlin Elyria Rd Elyria, OH 44035.
