Benjamin (Ben) William Decost of the southside of Lorain, OH, born on January 5th, 1980, being the youngest of 10 siblings. Ben passed away suddenly on January 6th, 2024.
Ben was one of a kind. He had many talents. He had a passion for music. He could play the guitar and drums. He could rap, sing and write. He loved to cook and was very good at it. He could turn nothing into something. He enjoyed boxing and basketball and movies and comedy.
He was a family man who worked hard. He loved his kids and family. He was a very proud man who had lots of courage and strength. Always making people laugh and having a good time. He was very compassionate and would help in any way he could even if he didn’t know how his intentions were always good. He was a son a brother a father but most of all he was loved!
Those left to cherish his memory are his children Benjamin William Nieves Decost, Alexander James Nieves Decost, Isabel Evette Nieves Decost, Devin Jared Nieves Decost, and William Clevon Wilson. His grandchildren Jaylee May Petersen, Benjamin William Nieves Decost Jr, and Leilani Rose Decost. His children mothers Donielle M. Canter and Myiesha Wilson. His siblings Rex A. Decost, Jack Decost, Sandy F. Decost, Liza Nieves Standard, and Yvette Nieves Broeckel. He has many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death with his mother Rose “Rosie” Elizabeth Decost (Welch). His father William C. Nieves. His daughter Serinaty Rose Wilson. His siblings William Nieves, Charles F. Bond, Michael D. Decost, Carol F. Decost and Roseann E. Decost.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 29th, 2024, from 4pm-6pm at the Carter Funeral Home 127 W Bridge St Elyria, OH 44035.
