Ava Michelle Clinkscale, 55, of Avon, Ohio, peacefully departed this life on March 21, 2026, in Elyria, Ohio. She was born in Elyria, Ohio, and remained deeply connected to her community throughout her life.
Ava was the beloved daughter of Tommie Allgood-Johnson and James Watkins. She was preceded in death by her father, David Johnson; her grandfather, Hugh Allgood; her grandmother, Rev. Helen Allgood; her grandfather, Wade Watkins; and her grandmother, Lossie Mae Watkins.
Ava received her education at Elyria West High School. She continued her academic journey at The Ohio State University, where she earned her associate degree, and later attended Ohio Business College, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree. She dedicated over 20 years of service as a tax preparer with Jackson Hewitt, where she was known for her dedication, professionalism, and care for her clients.
Ava was a woman of strong faith who loved the Lord. She found joy in watching sports, playing cards, and most importantly, spending quality time with her family. Her presence brought warmth, laughter, and love to all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: her son, Anthony Clinkscale (Heidi Gibson); her daughter, Avianna Clinkscale; and her nephew/son, Phillip Watkins and Hakeem Muhammad. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Anthony Clinkscale Jr., Aleia Clinkscale, Dallas Watkins, and Owen Zsoldos.
Ava is also remembered by her sisters: Cameron Watkins, Una Williams, Jana Watkins, Yvonne Watkins, Candace Abrams, and Darlene Perry; her brothers, Jerome Watkins (Shadikia Coleman) and Lloyd Brownlee; along with a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss her.
A celebration of Ava’s life will be held at Cornerstone United Methodist Church 2949 W. River Road N Elyria, OH. The wake will take place on April 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Though she is no longer with us in body, Ava’s love, faith, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
