Addie Winston Obituary

Addie Winston went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2022, at the age of 88. Addie was born to Alice Stone and Ozzie King on October 17, 1933, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She was married to her best friend Deacon Henry Winston Sr. of 66 years and together they raised five children, Sandra, Henry Jr., Sheila, Valerie, and Joseph. 

Addie loved traveling to her hometown and being around family. She loved serving as a Deaconess, singing in the choir, and supporting her husband when he traveled with his singing group. She also enjoyed eating expensive ice cream. Addie worked at Lorain Steel Mill, Nestle’ Chocolate Company in Oberlin, the Ohio Turnpike, and eventually retired from Attorney Smith’s office in Avon.  

She is survived by her husband Deacon Henry Winston Sr. and four children: Sandra Winston, Henry Winston Jr., Sheila Winston, Valerie (James) Lovejoy. Addie will be lovingly remembered by: Grandchildren: Samarra Balls, Sade McCall, Jerome McAfee (son Anthony), LaVonna Tisdale, Charbrisha Mathis (son Phoenix), Breona Mathis, Faith Winston, Shatoya Hoskin (daughters Shaiona & Charmaine), Anthony N. Hoskin (Daphnee, and daughter Charis), Victoria Lovejoy, Justin Lovejoy, Josiah Winston, Jaiden Winston, and Trischol Isom. Cousins: Alice Gordon Lowe, Ruth Booze, and Sunny Scott, niece Inez Stone, and the Minter family. 

 She was preceded in death by her mother Alice Stone, father Ozzie King, and son Joseph Winston 

The Homegoing Service is Thursday, March 31, 2022. The viewing is at 10:00 am until the funeral service which starts at 11:00 am at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 3900 Clifton Ave, Lorain, Ohio 44055. The committal is at Elmwood Cemetery and the repast will be held immediately following the service.
