Willie “Big Willie” McDaniel Sr. 79 of Lorain, went home to be with the lord on October 25, 2017 in the Mercy Hospital following a long illness.

He was born in Birmingham, Alabama and came to Lorain in 1969. He was a graduate of Wenonah High School in Birmingham, Alabama.

Mr. McDaniel was employed as a stamper for US Steel of Lorain retiring after 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, Bingo, and spending time with family and friends.

He will be missed by his wife of 30 plus years, May E. McDaniel of Lorain, daughters; Cynthia Green of Alabama, Deborah F. (David) Johnson of Lorain, Stephanie Morgan of Illinois, sons; Willie McDaniel Jr. of Lorain, Eric McDaniel of Lorain, Wimberly Hordrich of Birmingham, Alabama, 35 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, sisters; Sara McDaniel of Atlanta, Georgia and Rebecca Jackson of Birmingham, Alabama, brothers; Elder Joseph (Gloria) McDaniel of Lorain.

Preceded in death by first wife; Virginia McDaniel, parents; Murphy and Annie McDaniel, 3 sisters, and 7 brothers.

Friends may call on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 10a.m. until time of service at 11:00 am at the Carter Funeral Home 3001 Elyria Ave, Lorain, Ohio 44055 where the service will be held.
