Phyllis Loretta Hamilton

Phyllis Loretta Hamilton (Washington), 80, of Elyria, Ohio passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Western Reserve, July 24, 2019. “Baba”, as she liked to be called by hergrandchildren, was born on November 3, 1938, in Elyria, Ohio to the late Lorenzo and Mary Washington. Phyllis was the youngest daughter of nine siblings. Seven siblings have proceeded her in death: Norman Jean Anthony, Chole Belmer, AlfredaFrost, Barbara Wingard, Brothers, Howard Washington, Charles Washington, Duke Washington. As a young woman, Phyllis graduated from Elyria High School in 1957. She then settled in the town of Orwell, Ohio where she raised her family with her late husband, WillieJames Hamilton. Phyllis was a strong, hard-working and feisty woman that lived her life on her terms. She enjoyed fishing, cooking for her family, Sunday drives, and going out to eat. Shefrequently traveled to Las Vegas to visit her sister and would dance at the sound of music. Phyllis is survived by her brother, Bernard Washington and her five children: Ericka, (husband Gregory), Loree Taylor (husband Scott ), Olivia Steuball, Janice Johnson, Jay Steuball (wife Becky); ten grandchildren, Kelvin Robinson, Marcus Robinson (wife Camille), Brock Steuball, Michael Steuball, Pebbles Steuball, Kaylyn Bola (husband Hakeem), Kyle Johnson, Gregory, Tracey, Jeremy and four great grandchildren, Kylan Steuball, Cameron Robinson, Makayla Robinson, Victoria Bola and a host ofnieces and nephews. “Baba” was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed and will always be cherished. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 30, at Carter Funeral Home, 127 West Bridge Street, Elyria, Ohio, at 6:00 p.m., followed by the repass at 7:30 p.m. at Grace CommunityChurch, 1908 West 20th Street, Lorain, Ohio. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 31, at Carter Funeral Home, at 9:00 a.m. followed by the burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville,Ohio.
