Maxine Whitfield was born, March 23, 1944 in Ripley, Tennessee and lived in Lorain, Ohio most of her life, she transitioned from this early life on Thursday, May 23, 2019
She was a nurse’s aide for 20 years before becoming a homemaker. She loved to go fishing with her longtime companion, William Benjamin; playing cards, doing puzzles, and word search games. Also, she loved Bible Study every Wednesday, talking and praising the Lord, but her true love was her children and grandchildren.
She would cook big meals all the time and the holidays were her favorite, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, because everyone loved her cooking, especially her dressing!!
Maxine leaves to cherish her memories her longtime companion, William Benjamin; daughters, Tonia (Allan) Whitfield, Theresa (Ray) Cheers, Mary (Tony) Allison; sons, Billy (Delia) Whitfield, and Eric (Carol) Whitfield; 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Chester Crook and Carolyn Crook-Benson; nieces and nephews; ex-husband, Billy Whitfield of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Willie Frances Crook; sisters, Mary Maben, Charlene Jordan, and Bubble Crook; grandchildren, Desiree, Michael, and Toni Kapri.
Memorial service will be held from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel 3001 Elyria Ave, Lorain, OH.
