Mary “Minnie” McVay of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on February 28th, 2019, following a short illness.
She was born in Whitfield, AL coming to Elyria, a few years ago from Wellington. Mary was a graduate of Wellington High School class of 1959.
Mrs. McVay was a Home Health Care Nurse for 30 years.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oberlin.
Minnie enjoyed bowling, cooking, being around her grandchildren, family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Bonita (Sam) Daniels of Oberlin, Angela (Anthony) Callahan of Hot Springs, AR, Markita (Walter) Fresh of Elyria, Kenyon (Marisol) Ward of Lorain, 18 grandchildren, 17 great-children, sister: Sara Jackson of Lorain, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by parents George and Cora Ward, sisters: Josephine Williams, Martha Knight, Louise Evans and Sally West, brothers: Dan Cast and Peter Austin.
Friends will be received on Thursday, March 7, 2019 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, 3001 Elyria Ave. from 5-8 p.m. The Celebration of Life will be on Friday March 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gods’ Believers in Christ Church, 520 W. 22nd St. Lorain, OH 44052. Rev. James L. Williams, Pastor and Rev. Steven Cortez-Valles, will officiate. Burial in Brookdale.
