Luvenia Hollis 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2018, at University Hospital, Cleveland, following a brief illness. She was surrounded by loved ones. She was born August 14, 1928 in Alabama. Luvenia moved to Elyria as a young adult, and it has been her home ever since.
She was employed by Elyria Memorial Hospital in the Dietary Department before moving on to work at Good Samaritan Nursing Home as a laundry, Supervisor where she remained until retirement. Luvenia enjoyed her retirement for years by traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Family outings brought her the most joy.
Luvenia will be sadly missed by her daughters, Dora (Arthur) McCall, Bettie (Edward) Wilson, DeLois (Edward) Moore all of Elyria, Mary Jenkins and Ella Hollis of Norfolk, VA; sons, Willie Hollis of Saginaw, MI., Howard (Shanana) Hollis of Cary, NC., Reginald (Tonia) Hollis, of Elyria, Eugene (Priscilla) Hollis, Texas, David (Barbara) Hollis and Tracy Hollis both of Elyria; sisters, Dessie Mae Moore of Elyria, Mary Anne(Johnny) Evans of Lorain, brothers, Otis (Josephine) Alston, James (Virginia) Alston, Tummer Alston of Lorain, Peter (Jessie) Alston of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Hollis; parents, Lawyer and Georgia Taylor; sisters, Maple Jackson, Rose Ann Johnson, Rosie Capers, Frances Taylor and Jannie Bell Noble.
Friends may call on Monday, June 11, 2018 in the True Vine Primitive Baptist Church 737 18th Street, Elyria, from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 noon. Pastor James Furcron will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
