Lona Williams Obituary

Lona Belle (Higgins) Williams of Elyria Ohio, age 88, born August 1,1929 in Greenwood South Carolina to Smith and Lillie Higgins, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ February 2, 2018.

Lona attended school in Greenwood South Carolina. Lona and her husband Chris moved to Elyria, Ohio in 1954 where she was a dutiful wife and mother. She and her husband Chris were members of   Second Baptist Church for sixty four years. Lona received the Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus name at Living Faith Apostolic Church in Columbus, Ohio while visiting her daughter Margie (Michael) Parkman.

Lona enjoyed her flower garden, cooking and dancing. Lona and her husband Chris were avid gardeners, but not only in their beautiful yard at 242 White Oak Dr., would they also visit their children to help out and beautify their yards as well. Lona and Chris were very loving people who often with no fanfare visited the sick and shut in, bringing food or just spending time. Lona and Chris showed several generations of the family the way to live.

The Williams household was the center of family gatherings at holidays and special occasions. Lona took great joy from being the hostess for these gatherings and was determined to make sure everyone’s needs were met.

She also loved to return to Greenwood South Carolina to visit with her brothers and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents Smith and Lillie Higgins, her husband of 60+ years Christopher C. Williams and son George C. Williams.

She is survived by her children Christine Cann, Mary (E.T) King of Elyria. Robert (Shari) Williams, Margie (Michael) Parkman of Columbus, Ohio, Eddie (Patti) Williams of Indianapolis, Indiana and Grandson Ezra (Stacy) Williams. She is also survived by her brothers Howard Higgins, Hayward Higgins and George (Charlie Mae) Higgins. She also leaves behind a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.
