Karen Sue “Nootsie” Roddy 72 of Elyria, gained her wings on
Saturday February 17, 2018 in the University Hospital of EMH after a sudden illness. A lifelong resident of Elyria, a graduate of Midview class of 1962 and graduated from LCCC class of 1991 with an Associate’s degree in Nursing.
Mrs. Roddy also worked at General Motors of Elyria. She worked as a Registered Nurse at EMH University Hospital retiring after 26 years’ service.
She was a member of Unity Baptist Church of Elyria, a member of Negro Professional Business Women’s Club, Lorain County Lupus Foundation and involved in many charities.
Karen was an avid bowler, enjoyed horse racing, retail therapy and spending time with family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter: Kimberly Arnold of Elyria, 3 sons: Jeffrey W. Kenny of Elyria, Karim Akil (aka Scott Kenny) of California, Carey Roddy of Elyria, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by parents Carey and Mattie Brown, brother Horrom Brown, sisters Eloise Brown, Christine Larkins and Betty Jo Johnson.
Friends may call on Monday February 26, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. in the Unity Baptist Church, 326 Fuller Road, Elyria, OH 44035. Rev. Willie Gardner, Officiant.
