In 1979 he joined the United States Armed Forces as a Reservist in the National Guard. Geno, as he was so affectionately called, loved basketball, yardwork, and spending time with his family. He was employed by Ohio Edison over 15 years as an Electrician and later transitioned to NASA, serving as a Certified Crane Inspector. He loved his job and his coworkers loved working alongside him. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church of Elyria. Gene leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 35 years, Nancy (nee Williams); two daughters, Stephanie Young (Keith) and April Harvey; a son, Rashgene Gazi-White (Duane); two grandsons, Keith and Kevin Young; sisters Harriet Morgan, Carolyn Arnold, Brenda Conley, and Sandra Kimbro (Nathaniel); and brothers Herbert Arnold, James Harvey, and Michael Arnold. He is also survived by his extended family of Nadine James, Moses “MC” Johnson, Lisa Shannon-Stringer, and caretakers Arrianna Horton, Margo, Steve and Troy Vincent, and Shannon Williams, along with a host of family and friends. He will be joining his mother Kathryn Harvey, his father Herbert Arnold, Sr., sister Toni Gilmore, and brothers Elbert Harvey and Gary Arnold in Heaven. Gene will be severely missed by his family and friends.
