Johnnie Mae Adams 76, of Elyria, made her transition to heaven on May 20, 2019 after a long illness. She was born in in Ripley, TN coming to Elyria in 1962.
She was employed at Elyria Memorial Hospital in the Housekeeping Dept. and then worked at General Motors Fisher Guide plant in Elyria as a machine operator.
Johnnie Mae was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Elyria where she served on the Mothers’ Board, a choir member and missions treasurer.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, music, spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter: Marci Adams (Gerrell Madison) of Elyria, son: Eliverston Adams (Erika) of Iowa, 4 grandchildren, Wanaya Madison, Uriah Madison, Noah Madison, Alyssa Adams; 3 brothers: Isiah Joiner and Sonny Winbush both Memphis, TN, and Donald Winbush of Elyria, sister: Mary Winbush of Los Angeles, CA and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Sam and Margret Winbush Ward, sisters: Delone Miller and Violet Payton, brother: Lonnie Winbush.
Friends will be received on Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Carter Funeral Home, 127 W. Bridge St., Elyria, OH 44035. Celebration of Life Service will be on Friday in the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 244 9th St., Elyria, OH 44035 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Rev.
