Obit of James A. Currie James A. “Jim or Jr.” Currie 85, of Elyria went home to with the Lord on May 4, 2019 in the Life Care Center of Elyria following a long Illness. He was born in Ripley, TN coming to Elyria as a teenager. Jim was employed at Harshaw Chemical of Elyria retiring in 1978. He was a former member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where he served on the Usher board. Jim enjoyed Bingo, Cleveland Indians and watching westerns. He will be sadly missed by his daughters: Barbara Ann Davis, Constance Jean Drummer, both of Elyria, Jacqueline Currie and Phyllis Ann Currie, both of Atlanta, GA, sons: James M. Currie, Jeffrey Currie, Rev. Calvin (Rose) Currie, all of Elyria, 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah C. Currie, son Allen C. Currie, great-grandchild Damarion Stephan Dukes, a brother Charles ‘Charlie’ Estes and parents James A. Sr. and Anna Mae Currie. Friends may call on Thursday May 9, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the Mount Zion Baptist Church, 632 W. River Road, N, Elyria, OH 44035. The Rev. Calvin Currie will officiate. Burial in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, OH 44035. VFW POST 1079 will give Military Honors.
