James H Barber

James H. Barber, Jr. went from labor to his heavenly reward on June 3, 2019. James was born February 26, 1941 from the union of his late parents Rev. James H. Sr. and Elouise Barber.

James accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He attended Max S. Hayes Trade School & The Cleveland Welding School and received many other certifications for Auto Repair. James worked for various Body Shops in the Cleveland area, as well for Ford Motor Co. in Lorain, Ohio before opening his own shop Jim’s Auto Repair

James was a former member of Elyria Baptist Church & Clinton Ave. Church of Christ, where he taught Sunday school and VBS. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he was licensed to Preach, taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Men’s Choir and Pulpit minister until unable to attend.

James loved music, fishing, reading his bible, working on cars and spending quality time with his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Theda M. Barber of 60 ½ years, his Son William L. Barber, Sister Patricia L. McGhee of Streetsboro, OH; Granddaughter Tiffaney N. Davis & Grandson William C. Barber both of Elyria, OH; Brother in-law Lester J. Stewart, Warrensville Hts, OH; Sister in-law Gwendolyn M. Flood, Lakewood, OH; and His Great-Granddaughter Lavender Willow-Anastasia Barber, Bedford, OH; Nieces, Shirley Thompson-Lewis, Douglasville GA; Valerie Thompson, Olmsted Twsp, OH; Leslie (Phelan) Pendelton, Cleveland Hts, OH; Brandy Stewart, Cleveland, OH; Grand Nieces & Nephews, Radiance (Anthony) Ruffin, Douglasville, OH; Ian Lewis, Cleveland Hts, OH; Miles Pendelton, Phelan Pendelton, Cleveland Hts, OH; Michael Thompson & Mark (Nat) Thompson Cleveland, OH; and a host of other relatives and friends

He was proceeded in death by his parents; Daughter Candace V. Barber-Cooke; Brother Timothy Barber; Mother and Father In-law Horace & Fluncy Flood.

James will be Sorley missed by all

The Family will receive friends 10am Monday June 10, 2019 at Bethany Baptist Church; 334 17th St, Elyria OH. 44035; followed by homegoing service at 11am. Burial will preside at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria OH
