Hermon Curtis “Shelly” Phillips 83, of Elyria went home to be with the Lord on April 20, 2018 in the University Hospital of Elyria, following short illness.
Mr. Phillips was a veteran of the United States Army, station in Ft. Jackson, SC.
He was employed as a tow motor driver for the York International Corporation of Elyria returning in 2001.
Mr. Phillips attended Second Baptist Church in Elyria, he enjoyed cooking, listening to blues music, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
He will be sadly by his wife of 38 years Mable Phillips (nee Murray) of Elyria; daughters, Dana M. Phillips of Elyria, Raechel M. Standifer of Arlington, Va., Debbie and Violet Collins both of Lorain; sons, James C. (Patricia) Collins of Dallas, Texas, Edward Collins of Ohio,; daughter-in-law, Ana Collins of Texas; brother, John Phillips of Elyria and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Herman C. Collins; parents, Willie and Carrie Robinson (nee Duncan); sister, Monteas Holloway and brother, Alfred Phillips
Friends may call on Friday, April 27, 2018 in the Second Baptist Church, 427 Chapman Lane, Elyria, OH 44035 from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Rev. Dr. Carl P. Small, Eulogist. A full Military Honors will be given in Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Rittman, Oh. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Carter Funeral Homes, Inc., 127 Chapman Lane, Elyria, OH 44035.
