Glenna Wynetta (Spencer) Kolb

Glenna Wynetta Iona Jane (nee Spencer) Kolb was born on December 7, 1932 to George and Eula Spencer. She was the 4th of 12 children. She completed her earthly journey on March 13th, 2017. Glenna earned her LPN from St. Josephs School of Practical Nursing in Lorain and then became a RN, earning an Associate’s degree in nursing from LCCC. In addition to being a dedicated nurse, she assisted in pioneering the first ambulance services offered at Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin. She continued to work there until her retirement. In her early years, Glenna was actively involved with the local chapter of NAACP, where she was instrumental in closing down the Charcoal Pit in Lorain, a restaurant known for discriminating against black people. She enjoyed being with family and friends, bowling, being a part of the Apaches motorcycles club, loved collecting dolls, cat figurines and chime clocks. However, her greatest joy, was sitting in her favorite chair and watching her westerns….cowboys that is!!! Glenna was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Kolb Jr., parents George and Eula Spencer, son-in-law Jerome Quincy Williams, daughter-in-law Jessica Regina Kolb, grandson Jerome Quincy Williams Jr., and 5 siblings. Glenna leaves to mourn and cherish her memories 5 children: John (Wanda) Kolb lll of Oberlin, Laurie Ann Williams of Atlanta, GA, Sandra (Kenneth) Redd of Oberlin, Claudia (Richard) Wright of Abilene, TX, Isatou (Mam Mbonjik) Jallow-Hall of Atlanta, GA, Grandchildren: Rachel (Chris) Adcox, Charmaine (Derrick) McFarland, Tia Williams, Rashonda Kolb, Kenneth (LaToya) Redd ll, Glenna Redd, Renee Kolb, Maxine Baggett-Redd. Great-grandchildren, Timyah Williams, Derrick McFarland, Jamaal Grier, Tamari Adcox, Kenneth Redd lll, Kaleb Redd, Natalie Kolb and Lauren Williams. Siblings: George (Elaine) Spencer, Karen (Clyde) Robinson, Alva (Gladys) Spencer, Darrell Spencer, Sharon (Quincy) Land, Joseph Spencer, brother-in-law George Kolb and sister-in-law Janet Kolb. Friends will be received on Monday, March 20th, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon in the Lake and Walnut Church of Christ, 1101 Lake Ave., Elyria, OH 44035. Brother Jerome Garrison, Officiant. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangement entrusted to Carter Funeral Home, 3001 Elyria Ave., Lorain, OH 44055
