Charles E. “Sonny” Neely Sr. 79 of Lorain passed away peacefully on July 27, 2017 in the Metro Hospital of Cleveland.
He was born in Bessemer, Alabama on February 23, 1938 a long time resident of Lorain. Mr. Neely served in the United States Army stationed in Germany.
He was employed at Ford Motor Company of Lorain as an assembler and a Dog Warden for the city of Lorain and a School Bus Driver for SBS Transportation.
A member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Lorain. He enjoyed bowling, coaching softball, umpiring, avid sport fan and talking to his family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his seven children; sons are Charles Jr. (Susan) Neely, James Neely, Edward Neely, and daughters; Vevlyn Neely-Jenkins, Anissa, Adrian, and Chanda Neely. 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law; John Anderson Jr. and Aunt Eloise Norman and a host of cousins and close friends.
Proceeded in death by his wife Mary Ann Neely, father; Emmanuel Neely and grandson; Nyles Neely.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Shiloh Baptist Church 3800 Clifton Ave, Lorain and Service at 11:00 am on Thursday, in the Shiloh Baptist Church, Reverend Dr. Peter Tower will officiate and burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery, 3700 Center rd Avon.
