Happy Birthday Tony

Anthony (Tony) Kyle Maxey was born on December 23, 1965 in Elyria, Ohio to Reuben H. Maxey and Norma V. Lewis. He departed this earthly life December 14, 2018.
Tony knew how to overcome obstacles in life. At birth he was born with one leg shorter than the other, but he did not let this hold him back. He was a man of strength and courage. As a youth, Tony was an avid player of baseball, basketball, gymnastics, soccer, wrestling, and oh yes…. kickball!
He graduated from Elyria High School in 1984 and attended classes at Lorain County Community College. Tony also was trained in Small Engine Repair at Lorain County Joint Vocational School. During his adult years he worked in various food service roles.
Tony was a gifted musician and played with bands in many venues. He was a dedicated musician who found ways to express his talents to various audiences. He truly enjoyed Rock-n-Roll and the atmosphere this music creates for others.
Tony leaves to cherish in his memory two awesome mothers: Norma Lewis and Phyllis Maxey; girlfriend: Vicky Bird of Elyria Ohio; four brothers: Fritz Green of Syracuse, New York, Marc (LaQuita) Maxey of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jason (Denise) Lewis of Cleveland, Ohio and Anthony Bumphus of Elyria Ohio; two sisters: Celicia Maxey of Stow, Ohio and Felicia Bumphus of Elyria, Ohio; stepbrothers: Charles Lewis, Jackie Lewis, and Barney Lewis; stepsisters: Barbara Lewis, Amanda Lewis and Ni Knowles. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Tony was preceded in death by his father Reuben H. Maxey; paternal grandmother, Jennie Lee Maxey; maternal grandmother, Grace Flourence; maternal grandfather, Julius H. Flourence; Aunt, Aola Huffman; and great grandmother Savannah (Sister) Jenkins.
Friends will be received on Sunday, December 23, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 4:00 p.m. in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, 127 W. Bridge St., Elyria, OH.
