George Rollin Stewart Jr. was born November 29th, 1935, passed away at the Lifecare Assisted Living facility in Elyria, OH on January 18th, 2024. George was born into the union of George Rollin Stewart Sr. and Margaret Stewart (nee Bailey) in Ironton, Ohio.
George was a Korean War veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps from December 4th, 1952, until honorably discharged in 1955. From 1956 until honorably discharged in 1960, George also served in the United States Air Force. He married his wife of 51 years, Carolyn, on February 19th, 1972.
George laughed loudly, spoke with confidence, and set himself to every task with the fullness of his being. He loved his wife and family, he was loyal to his friends, never pretended to be anyone other than who he was, and never forgot where he came from. He was an avid sports fan and an athlete in his own right. He was a proud member and for a time served as commandant of the Lofton Henderson division of the Marine Corps League. George never stopped learning, embracing, and adapting to changing technologies at a sometimes-frustrating pace, yet he was always humble enough to ask and accept help for the things he hadn't quite mastered.
George Rollin Stewart Jr. is survived by his darling wife, Carolyn Stewart (nee Bohannon), brother Anthony Justice, cousins: Vince Evans, Eric Evans, Lynette Evans, sons: Kenneth M. Bohannon and Kevin Bohannon, Leon Ray Knight Sr., Damon D. Stewart, George L. Stewart, stepdaughter Pamela Kidd, 15 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
George is preceded in death by Mother Margaret A. Lewis (nee Bailey), Father George Rollin Stewart Sr., and stepfather Leonard W. Lewis.
