Obit of Willie E. Brooks Willie E. “Hoot” Brooks 90, of Elyria, made his transition to Heaven on December 17th, 2016 in the Wesleyan Village of Elyria following a long illness. He was born in Shreveport, LA coming to Elyria in 1945 and was employed with the ABEX Corp. as a foreman retiring after 35 years of service. Mr. Brooks was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Japan and Germany. He was a former member of Mt. Nebo P.B. Church and a member of the Zion Traveler Gospel Singers and also a coach for the Little League South Baseball team for 10 years. Mr. Brooks enjoyed fishing, bowling and working on cars. He will be sadly missed by daughters: Andrea (Calvin) Thornton-Slay of Las Vegas, NV, Brenda Lewis of Omaha, NE, Cheryl Thornton of Dallas, TX, sons: Quentin M. Brooks of Chula Vista, CA, Ronnie (Marilyn) Milner of Elyria, Rev. Arnett (Patricia) Thornton of Elyria, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sisters: Ollilian Wiseman of Elyria, Ruth Laster of Kansas City, MO and a loving host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by 1st wife Louise Brooks, 2nd wife Letha Brooks, parents Joseph and Bertha Brooks, sisters: Mary Brooks, Ora Lee Thomas and Jerry Lee Peoples.
