Thomas H. “Spud” Lawrence Jr. of Elyria made his transition into heaven on January 2, 2018 in his home following a long illness.

A lifelong resident of Elyria and a graduate of Elyria High School and Lorain County J.V.S.

Thomas was a truck driver for 30 years at New Era Trucking INC in North Ridgeville and Rowland Trucking Company, North Ridgeville.

He enjoyed talking to people, avid sports fan and playing with his grandson.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters: Alicia A. and Mieisha A. Lawrence, both of Elyria, sons: Corey R. and Tyler T. Lawrence both of Elyria, grandson: Dominic J. Tidmore Jr., father: Thomas (Bonnie) Handy Lawrence Sr. of Elyria, sisters: Sonya (Nate) Lee of Akron and Jasmine Lawrence of Elyria and a brother: Kevin Lawrence of Elyria and host of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his mother Annie Qualls, maternal grandmother; Annie Henderson, and maternal Grandfather; Harvey Oliver, and paternal grandmother; Thelma Grant, paternal grandfather; Scipio Grant.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel 127 W. Bridge St, Elyria from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Rev. Joseph Gause, pastor of Mt. Olivet Alliance Church, Elyria officiating. Family and friends will fellowship at Olivet Alliance Church 626 Lorain Blvd. Elyria.
