Sarah "Portia" Elder

Sarah “Portia” Elder 86, of Oberlin transition to life on March 20, 2018 following a long illness. She was born in Chester Co., South Carolina, coming to Oberlin 4 years ago.

She was a school teacher for the Atlanta public school system and a Professional Seamstress, Member of Cross Road Christian Church of Stockbridge, Georgia.

Mrs. Elder was a member of the NAACP of Oberlin, Chapter and Atlanta, Ga. Enjoyed cooking, being a seamstress, and spending time with family and friends. She was instrumental in linking families together to start our LSWWC Family Est. 1979.

She was survived by her caregivers, Ruth Smith and Quincy Land, both of Oberlin and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives

Friends may call Sunday, March 25, in the Carter Funeral Chapel 300l Elyria Ave, Lorain, at 3:00pm till 4:00pm

Funeral Services for Sarah P. Elder are as followed; Services will be held on Saturday March 31,2018,  CrossRoad Christian Church   "3545" Hwy 42, North    (3545) N. Henry Blvd  Stockbridge  Ga.  Viewing  11:00 -Noon then  services will begin at 12:00, Burial will be at Forrest Hill Memorial Gardens, Services in Georgia provided by Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home. www.wimberlyjacksonfuneralhome.com
