Ruby N. (Wolfe) Jones

Ruby N. Wolfe Jones, is the daughter of Coy and Leon Wolfe (deceased). She moved to Oberlin, Ohio in September, 1943 where she resided at the boarding house of Elizabeth Mason and later graduated from Oberlin Senior High School. Shortly after Ruby met and married the love of her life, Jeff Jones (deceased). She later attended the Oberlin Business School, where she majored in Business Administration. For 25 years, Ruby served in the Oberlin Public School system, educating and encouraging young people. Jeff and Ruby’s 6 children are Delola, Corgenette (Corgie), Antoinette (Ann) Ruby Patricia (Oogie), Jeffery and Monica. Jeff and Ruby have 10 grandchildren (Robert, Nicole, Christian, Stephanie, Malik, Dorian, Derrick, Ryan, Victorious, Jeffrey Jr.), 18 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Also, a devoted and loved Step-grandmother and step great grandmother. Ruby has been a devoted member of the Christ Temple Apostolic Church of Oberlin Ohio for over 50 years and was titled Church Mother. Accomplishments: - Ruby is the Founder of the Oberlin Community Youth Scholarship Fund, Inc., since 1998. OCYSF is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides need-based, financial assistance for post-secondary education to students residing in the Oberlin school district. OCYSF has granted over $200,000 in scholarships to 42 graduates of the Oberlin School District. Ruby’s request is that the community continues to contribute and support this cause that helps to make it possible for deserving youngsters to pursue their dreams beyond high school. - Awarded the Sojourner Truth’s Award by the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc. - The Almighty Church Humanitarian Award in 2015 - Author of Audio Book Series “One Poor Pear” - Inducted into Oberlin’s Senior High School’s Hall of Fame in November, 2016 - An Honorary Degree recipient from Oberlin College. She is an Alumni of Oberlin College - Certified Nurses Guild - Licensed Real Estate Agent Bucket List (Accomplished Dreams) • Paradise Island Cruise • Cayman Islands • Shopped in Mexico • Mountain Climbing in Tombstone, Az • Dream Trip to Grand Ole Opryland with children in Nashville, TN • Las Vegas vacation • Cabin in the Smoky Mountains with family • Pentagon visit • Martin Luther King Memorial Site visit • Henry For Museum with family • New Orleans and much more… All in all, Ruby N. Wolfe Jones, loved and cherished her family, church and community. Her life was one of service and inspiration. Ruby was definitely an Humanitarian, Philanthropist, Menor and Prayer Warrior. She has always had a valued interest in helping insure Oberlin’s community youth had an opportunity excel. She was like a mother to all youth and her wisdom will continue to echo throughout time.
