Obituary of Ophelia Pierce Ophelia “Chicken” Pierce 90, of Elyria, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday November 11, 2016 following a short illness. Ophelia was born on Friday October 8, 1926 in Mt. Holly, AR coming to Elyria in 1948. She was employed in the Housekeeping Department at EMH (University Hospital) retiring in 1992. Ophelia was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church of Elyria where she served as an Usher, the Nurses’ Guild, the Outreach Ministry, treasurer of the Missionary Society, member of Women United, President of Senior Usher Board, member of Church Building Fund and Rosella Lawrence Club of Elyria. She will be sadly missed by nephews: Clenophus “Clen” Bowens Sr. of Elyria, Thomas L. Bowen of Washington, D.C., Michael Bowen of Dallas, TX. And Robert L. Tillman of Elyria, nieces: Elvenua Bell of Compton, CA, Daisy L. James of Columbus, OH, Christine Tillman and Genevieve Todd both of Elyria, Charlice Bowens of Detroit, MI, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Pierce, parents Genie and Lucy Bowens, brothers Clinton and Charles Bowens and her aunt Della. Friends may call Saturday November 19, 2016 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. in the Unity MB Church, 326 Fuller Rd, Elyria, OH 44035. The Rev.
