Lee R. "Crab" Pope, 63, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the University Seidman Cancer Center, in Cleveland, following a short illness. He was born September 13, 1953 in Oberlin.

Lee completed his primary and secondary education in Oberlin. Lee was employed by Elyria Foundry and most recently Riddell Inc. Lee was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oberlin. Lee was an avid classic cars enthusiast.

Lee's  spirit lives on in the hearts of the family he leaves behind, his mother, Prettie Crim of Elyria; his brothers, Henry G (Sue) Pope, Lawrence Pope and Johnathon Pope, all of Elyria, Timothy Pope of Wichita, Kansas and James Pope of North Carolina; sisters, Sandra Pope, Jacquilin Pope both of Atlanta, Georgia, Cheryl Pope of Elyria and Tanya Pope of Pensacola, Florida and a host of aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Pope, Sr. and grandparents, Hannah and Richard Pope and Rubie Jackson.

Friends may call Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. until time of service at 12 Noon in the Unity Baptist Church, 326 Fuller Rd., Elyria. The Reverend Dr. Willie Gardner will officiate.
