JAMES W. MOORE "JUNIOR" JUNE 14, 1951 ~ APRIL 6, 2018 (AGE 66) JAMES WILLIAM MOORE, JR (66) TRANSITIONED FROM THIS LIFE ON APRIL 6, 2018. HE WAS BORN JUNE 14, 1951 IN WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA TO THE LATE JAMES M. MOORE, SR AND MARY (HAMPTON) MOORE. JAMES WAS A GIFTED ATHLETE AND SCHOLAR. HE WAS THE VALEDICTORIAN OF WHEELING HIGH SCHOOL CLASS of 1969. AN ACCOMPLISHED WILDCAT ALL-STAR ATHLETE, HE LETTERED IN BASEBALL (FIRST BASEMAN - PITCHER), BASKETBALL (LEFT-HANDED POINT GUARD WHO LED 1969 TEAM TO A 19 - 1 SEASON AVERAGING 20 PPG AND A #2 STATE RANKING), AND FOOTBALL (5' 10", 170-POUND RUNNING BACK-DEFENSIVE BACK - KICK RETURNER WAS THE OV'S TOP CLASS AAA RUSHER WITH 1,142 YARDS ON 189 CARRIES WITH NINE TDs PLUS 14 PASS RECEPTIONS FOR 181 YARDS AND A SCORE. HE WAS ALL-EVERYTHING!) ON AUGUST 16, 2014, "JUNIOR" WAS INDUCTED INTO THE OHIO VALLEY ATHLETIC CONFERENCE (OVAC) SPORTS HALL OF FAME, HIGHLIGHTING HIS HIGH SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS. JAMES ATTENDED WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY IN WINSTON SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA ON A FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP AND GRADUATED IN 1973. HE WAS PROUD OF HIS CONTRIBUTIONS ON THE WFU TEAM THAT WON ITS FIRST ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE (ACC) CHAMPIONSHIP IN 1970 WHEN HE WAS A SOPHOMORE. HE WAS THE LEADING RUSHER ON THE FRESHMAN TEAM. HE AVERAGED OVER 20 YARDS PER KICKOFF RETURNS FOR HIS CAREER, AND HAD AN 89-YARD TD RETURN VS VIRGINIA TECH UNIVERSITY, AS A JUNIOR. HIS EMPLOYMENT INCLUDED MANAGING BURGER CHEF and JEFF'S RESTAURANTS; AND HE ALSO WAS A MASON FOR GRACE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY IN NORTH CAROLINA, WHOSE CLIENTS WERE RESIDENTIAL, COMMERCIAL, and AND NON-PROFITS. "JUNIOR" IS REMEMBERED FOR HIS SMILE -- AS A MODEST, SMART, WITTY, KIND-HEARTED, ENERGETIC, SUPPORTIVE TEAMMATE, GOOD FRIEND, AND LOVING RELATIVE. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS GRAND PARENTS; PARENTS, AND A SISTER, JANICE MOORE. LEFT WITH CHERISHED, LOVING MEMORIES ARE HIS WIFE, MARILYN MOORE; DAUGHTERS: CHEVELLE GOODWIN of MARIETTA, GA. AND TWANA FULLER of WINSTON-SALEM, NC; SONS: SHANNON (REGINA) FULLER of HUNTERSVILLE, NC, JAMES MOORE II, and JULIAN MOORE OF WINSTON-SALEM, NC; NINE GRANDCHILDREN; SEVEN GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN; A SISTER, PHYLLIS (JOSE) AGNEW of MORGANTOWN, WV; AND A HOST of NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUSINS and FRIENDS.
