Frederick Earl “Mr. Rick” Helm, Sr., 51 of Elyria, OH, unexpectedly made his transition to Heaven on Monday, February 19, 2018.
Mr. Rick was born April 19, 1966 in Metcalfe, MS. He graduated from Elyria High School and obtained his Associates Degree of Sociology from Ashland University. Mr. Rick was a licensed Master Barber-Stylist in the state of Ohio and Georgia, practicing for over 20 years. Mr. Rick managed and owned several successful barber shops throughout Lorain County and Atlanta, GA and received accolades for Businessman of the Year (2013) and the Barbers Blue Jacket Award.
Mr. Rick was a long-standing member of Second Baptist Church in Elyria, OH. He was also a member of Community Service Alliance of Cleveland, OH and an active member of Alcoholic Anonymous. His hobbies were fishing, music, and his love for the Cleveland Browns.
Mr. Rick will greatly missed by his sons Andre Morris of Cleveland, OH; Terrence Helm and Christopher Morris both of Elyria, OH; Frederick E. Helm, Jr. of Elkhart, IN; step-daughter Aleta Scott of Elyria, OH; granddaughters A’zariah Morris and Layonna Morris both of Elyria, OH; grandson Aidan St. Clair of Lorain, OH; brother Curtis (Cynthia) Helm, Sr. of Nashville, TN; sisters Shirley (Jason) Nicholson of Lorain, OH; Barbara (Anthony) Anderson of Columbus, OH; Linda (Donald) Graham of Ypsilanti, MI; Marilyn (Ronnie) Milner both of Elyria, OH; special friend and confidant Corliss Helm; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Frederick Earl “Mr. Rick” Helm, Sr. was preceded in death by his daughter Tori Rickita Helm; grandson Christopher Morris, Jr.; brother Clyde E. Helm; parents Clyde Helm and Ora Norman; step-father James Norman; grandparents Mable L. Jackson and Edwards Jones Sr.; and step grand-father Raymond Jackson.
Funeral arrangements are handled by Carter Funeral Home of Elyria. Friends and family are invited to his memorial to be held on Saturday, February 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Nebo P.B. Church, 452 Mussey Ave., Elyria, OH, Elder Mark H. Taylor, officiating. Any donations and food can be sent or dropped off at Mt. Nebo Church.
