Obit of Donald R. Battiste Donald Ray Battiste 66 of Elyria, passed away on April 12, 2017 in the University Hospital of EMH following a short illness. He was born in Bunkie, LA, coming to Elyria in 1969. Ray was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School class of 1969 in Bunkie, LA. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army in Anchorage, AK. He was employed as a line assembler for Ford Motor Company in Lorain, retiring after 30 years of service. Ray enjoyed fishing, cooking, working on cars and being around family and friends. He will be sadly missed by 2 daughters: Roxanna (Chris) Johnson-Jones of Cheney Ville, LA, LaRhonda D. Killings of Elyria, 4 sons: Donald Tate-Battiste of Ft. Worth, TX, Lagusta Killings-Battiste of Columbus, Antwine D. Battiste of Elyria, Jason Easterday-Battiste of Lorain, 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, sisters: Brenda Drain of Ft. Worth, TX, Lynette Nash of Bunkie, LA, Mary Lee (Larry) Allison of Sulphur, LA, brothers: Sullivan (Delores) Battiste of Bunkie, LA, Marvin (Jeanette) Price-Battiste of Atlanta, GA and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his companion of many years Mosieann Killings, father Sullivan Battiste, mother Gertrude S. Battiste-Tate, maternal grandparents Gus and Hester Smith, paternal grandparents Ernestine and Antwine Battiste.
