Carl Larkins

December 16, 1933 ~ November 3, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

 

Carl Daniel Larkins was born on December 26, 1933 to Herman C. and Lucy J. Wiseman Larkins in Belvidere, Tennessee.  He departed this life on November 3, 2017, at the North Park Care Center, Brook Park, Ohio.  His family moved to Ohio when he was still a young child.  He graduated from Elyria High School where he was captain of the football team.  Carl graduated from The Ohio State University in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering.  He met and married Brenda Lou Gillespie while in college.

 

While serving in the United States Army, Carl received several letters of appreciation from his Commanding Officers for his outstanding performance in The Signal School and for his outstanding contribution to the sports program and untiring efforts as a member of the Fort Monmouth Football Team.

 

After graduation from the Ohio State University, Carl moved to Seattle, Washington in 1960 where he was employed by The Boeing Company as an aeronautical engineer, retiring in 1990.  He returned to live in Ohio in 2003.

 

Carl is survived by his sons, Richard Gregory (Valerie) of Silver Spring, Maryland, Gerald Roger of Seattle, Washington, and Joel Alyn (DeAndria), of Houston, Texas, grandsons Daniel, of Baltimore, Maryland and Christopher, a student in Los Angeles, California, sisters Christine Holmes of Brook Park, Ohio, Palestine Yvonne Glass of Elyria, Ohio, Vantoria Boulton, Fort Mills, South Carolina, brothers James Frierson and Stephen Larkins of Elyria, Ohio and Phillip Larkins of Columbus, Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Herman M. Larkins, Sr. and Floyd Larkins.

Friends may call on Saturday November 11, 2017, from 11:00 until time of service at 12:00 noon, in the Lake Avenue Church of Christ, 1101 Lake Ave, Elyria Ohio, 44035.  Eulogist Jerome H. Garrison will officiate.
