Bryon Clayton "Smooth" Reed Bryon Clayton "Smooth" Reed, 59, of Elyria made his transition to his eternal home on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 following a long illness. Lifelong residence of Elyria, a graduate of Elyria High School class of 1975. He attended Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio majoring in business where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He was employed with the Ford Motor Company in the Division of Lear Auto. He was a lifetime member of Second Baptist Church of Elyria and he was a coach of the Southside Little League for many years. Past Master Bryon C. Reed has been a long and faithful member of Sidonia Lodge #93 for over 31 years. Joining in 1985, he rose through the ranks within his lodge to become the Worshipful Master. Before his demise he was serving the local Masonic Houses in the following positions: Past Master and assistant Secretary for Sidonia lodge #93; Worthy Patron of Sidonia Chapter #69 Order of Eastern Star; the Past High Priest and Excellent Recorder of Golden Ark #38 Royal Arch Mason; the Past Illustrious Master and Illustrious Recorder of Phenican Council #24 Royal and Select Masters; Past Eminent Commander of Emanuel Commandery #32 Knights Templar; a member of Emanuel Guild #3 Heroines of Templar Crusades; a member of Adoniram Court #6 Ladies Of the Circle Of Perfection; a member of Bezaleel Consistory #15 Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and a former Noble of Al Lalim Temple #223 of the Ancient Arabic Egyptian Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. On the Grand level, he served as the Worshipful Grand Pursuvant for the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Ohio; Most Excellent Grand Lecturer of the Most Excellent Prince Hall Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Ohio; the Right Illustrious Grand Captain of the Guard for the Most Illustrious Prince Hall Grand Council Royal and Select Masters of Ohio and its Jurisdiction; the Eminent Grand Captain General of the Prince Hall Grand Commandery of Knight Temple State of Ohio and Jurisdiction. Due to his dedication and years of service to the Masonic Order he has been honored to be elevated to the 33rd and last Degree in 2014 and Knighted a member of Alpha Priory #1 of Knight of the York Cross of Honour Prince Hall Affiliate also in 2014. Survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda Reed (nee Oliver), children, Rashad J. Reed, Jamilah D. Reed and Jamil R. Reed {twins [girl & boy]} all of Elyria, five grandchildren, brother, Bruce Reed of Elyria and cousin, Judy Thompson of Elyria; a host nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Preceded in death by parents Gilbert Eugene and Pauline Helen Reed. Friends may call Thursday, September 8, 2016 in the Second Baptist Church, 427 Chapman Lane, Elyria from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. where Masonic service will be held at 7 P.M. Celebration of life service will be Friday, September 9, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Second Baptist Church. The Reverend Carl P. Small will officiate. Burial in Brookdale Cemetery.
